Herman and the Mini-Bus With Soul
Published in Hardcover by G B L Pub Co (December, 1993)
Average review score:

GraphicsMrs. Bland, the author was one of the first African American educators to attend OSU. She jumped through many barriers: such as not being allowed to live in the dorms and so forth. Despite the hardships, she endured she taught for over thirty years and touched many lifes. Her books reveals such an rich understanding of love and care and I personally gave one to the Mayor of her city, Columbus, Ohio. If you are a teacher, this book is a must!! I have used it often for the rich graphics and the story line that can be extended into a semester's teaching.

Review of Herman and the Mini-BusHerman and the Mini-bus With Soul is an excellent readaloud multi-cultural story for preschool and primary children. The setting of the story is near a large city. Herman is a friendly bus driver who always has a smile and a cheerful "hello" for everyone he meets. His bus route is in the inner-city and his passengers can call him for a ride. He is known as the Bus Driver with Soul because he helps everyone who tells him about their problems. Children enjoy this story and learn a little about life in a big city.

The Heydrich Deception
Published in Paperback by Kensington Pub Corp (Mass Market) (August, 1989)
Average review score:

Skillful, telling historical backgroundThis book lingers with you after you finish, both on the historical and the lovestory levels. And, I felt like I had just enjoyed learning much about WW2, even though I'm not a history buff! Great read.
Excellent historical novelI am not usually a big fan of suspense-type fiction, but this book proved to be an exception. The main characters are really well-developed, and Gray's portrayal of the spy world in World War II is fascinating. The love story aspect is also nicely done, and fits in well with the overall intrigue. Well done!
A must-read!

The High Country Illuminator
Published in Paperback by iUniverse Publishing Services (01 May, 2000)
Average review score:

Spindrift novel of the ski-bum lifeThis is a period piece. The boots are leather, with laces. There's a psyceldilic Volkswagen van, pot in the oregano jar, and the evil Corporation trying to cope with the counter-culture. Altogether, a delightful yarn about nothing in particular except skiing the most beautiful mountains in the world, and those skiing scenes are wonderfully well written. The town is Aspen, of course. (I know because I read the book last winter in the Pitkin County Library, on the recommendation of a ski patrolman who knew the author way back when :) Great stuff, especially for skiers and anyone who was young in 1970.
how it came to beHey, I wrote the book--how could I not love it? In 1967 I took the publisher's advance for "Incident at Muc Wa" and loaded my VW Beetle for a winter in Aspen. I ended in a hostel called the Garret with a bunch of college dropouts, Vietnam vets, and people like me who just wanted to ski in a place so beautiful we could scarcely believe it existed. Out of that winter came the fantasy of the High Country Illuminator, who puts on light shows and tries to rid the town of rats. Now it's back in print through an Authors Guild program called (are you ready?) Backinprint.com. The book exists in a computer. You buy a copy; they print a copy. Don't believe the 3-5 weeks stuff. It's much faster than that.

Hometown Honeys (Afterglow Romantic Walks)
Published in Audio Cassette by Afterglow, Inc. (01 August, 1998)
Average review score:

Great stories! A real escapeThese are warm and fun romances about love with the "boy next door". The two different narrators (one man and one woman) really offered good variety.
A short romantic audio experience. What a great idea. These are short romantic stories, just long enough for a long walk or a work-out. I listened to mine in the car and it made the commute bearable. Both offer well-plotted romances, profesionally narrated by a man for one story and a woman for the other. It takes a lot of imagination to make a short story come to life on an audio tape, and these met the challenge well. I heartily recommend them.

The Hope of Living Cancer Free
Published in Hardcover by Siloam Press (November, 1999)
Average review score:

This book will inspire you!Einstein once said, "The way we SEE the problem IS the problem." Dr. Contreras sees the "problem of cancer" differently than most. It is very refreshing. A major part of coping and surviving cancer is the emotional/spiritual component. Read this book and you'll stop seeing yourself as a victim.
Everyone should read this book! When I read "The Hope of Living Cancer Free" I found insights into a world I did not know. This book gives suggestions on how to live your life the best way possible and not get cancer. I recomend this book for all of those who have cancer and for the friends and relatives of those who have a loved one with cancer. In fact if you do not have cancer and want to live cancer free then this book is for you. It is easy reading.

House Humans
Published in Paperback by Consortium Book Sales & Dist (October, 1997)
Average review score:

Daniel MacIvor IS modern Canadian TheatreHouse opened my eyes to the work of MacIvor and set the standard for contemporary Canadian theatre. Victor's rants and theories are both entertaining and engaging for an audience, and both challenging and rewarding for an actor. MacIvor thrives in the intimacy of smaller theatre spaces where the audience has no choice but to be affected by the action on stage. If interested, be sure to read See Bob Run, Never Swim alone, Here Lies Henry, and MacIvor's most recent play Marion Bridge - his most sincere work so far. Great to read, wonderful to perform, and unforgettable to witness. Also, MacIvor fans may look for the new independent film adaptation of See Bob Run by Calgarian director Don Scott!
Nobody writes more exciting theatre than Daniel MacIvorNo playwright has ever engaged my attention the way Daniel MacIvor does. The production of House Humans I saw grabbed me by the throat. MacIvor obliterates the fourth wall with a combination of showmanship, stage craft, and pure writing skill that nobody today matches. If you're looking for a play to spice up your season, and have a director with the courage and resourcefulness to take on this script, you'll have a hit on your hands. If you are at all interested in modern drama, you should read this guy, and pick up his other scripts as well. He's pure gold.

How the Wind Plays

The Proof is In the FixationMy daughter won't let go of this book! It's beautifully done.
My boy wants this book read to him every nightIt's rare that my 3 year old boy loves a book so much that he wants it read to him every night. This is one of those books. Not a lot of words on each page, which is good. My little boy wants a lot of books read to him quickly. Every page has the wind represented as a happy, smiling boy doing some play, like blowing sand around or kicking newspapers down the street. They are lovely pictures that my son loves.

How to Protect Your Life Savings from Catastrophic Illness and Nursing Homes: A Handbook for Financial Survival
Published in Paperback by Financial Planning Institute (June, 1990)
Average review score:

Indispensable Medicaid PrimerI have heard Harley Gordon speak on a number of occasions. He is forceful and to-the-point - and so is his book. Harley eschews legalese to deliver an easy-to-read discussion regarding Medicaid planning. This is source material for those in the insurance/financial planning arena and for those confronted with the prospect of spending down their assets prior to going on Medicaid, i.e. welfare. The material is presented in "Dick and Jane" fashion; it is an easy read. I recommend it to anyone who might be impacted in any way by Medicaid.
How to Protect Your Life Savings From Catastrophic Illness aI f you wish to understand the subjects of Medicare and Medicaid as they relate to aging and long term care, this book is a must - and a "keeper". I am a 28-year insurance professional and have been involved in long term care insurance since 1988. I have heard Mr. Gordon speak on a number of occasions. He speaks as he writes - clear and to the point. An attorney, he avoids "legalese". Our insurance agency trains other insurance agents in long term care. I always recommend that they purchase this book. It is imperative that our prospects and clients understand what (limited) benefits they might receive from either of these government programs. Mr. Gordon makes a complex subject understandable.

How to Rid Your Body of Pain
Published in Paperback by Pro Perkins Pub (September, 1996)
Average review score:

Pain ReliefGot this book for my husband who has complained daily of back pain for years. It works!! He followed some of the suggestions including elimininating milk products from his diet, and his pain basically disappeared. It is amazing. Relief after years of pain. Thank-you Dr. Twogood. We had tried both medical doctors and chiropractors, but this has been the best.
This book helped me !Almost a decade ago I began having terrible pain in the areas surrounding my joints. Each specialist I visited was unsure of the exact causeof my pain. As I got worse they began to say "It has to be arthritis" although both blood tests and x-rays said I was perfectly healthy. After years of being on the strongest arthritis drugs I still felt no relief. I found this book this summer and eliminated all dairy immediately. I was skeptical at first but my body reacted just like Dr. Twogood said it would- I began to feel better within the week! This book is a "must have" for anyone with pain!!!
